If you’re a fan of Cirque du Soleil and movie director Baz Luhrmann and you’re visiting Las Vegas, you’re in luck. The 90 minute show is called “For The Record: Baz” and is described as a “live reimagining” of his celebrated films: Strictly Ballroom, Moulin Rouge and Romeo + Juliet. The show is located on a custom stage at Light Nightclub at Mandalay Bay. The actors use the whole space, performing on table tops, in the aisles and in booths. Audience members are immersed in the drama and action. The show also features a live band and a 120- foot projection screen.
This rock concert/musical theatre piece/ celebration actually originated two years ago in our home sweet home of Los Angeles–first in Los Feliz then evolving and landing in West Hollywood. Once it was in West Hollywood Cirque du Soleil took an interest in it.
“For The Record: Baz” runs Wednesdays through Monday at 8 p.m. On Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays audience menbers may stay after the show and enjoy Light Nightclub…as a nightclub. For more information visit www.bazlasvegas.com
