July 6 through August:

S.O.Y. Artista Art Program will be offering 12 to 18-year-olds a chance to practice creativity at a series of free workshops.

July 7 through September 27

Are you a fan of rare books? The Getty Center has an exhibit of rare books containing gold leaf and hand drawing.

July 10-11: Harry Connick Jr.

Pack your picnic baskets, Harry Connick Jr. is coming to the Hollywood Bowl.

July 19

This one is really cool—Galco’s Soda Pop Stop. It’s a fund raiser benefiting Friends of the Southwest Museum Coalition. At this event you’ll get to sample soda pop from different countries including England, Italy and France.

July 24

Leah Hayes will be reading from her latest graphic novel, Not Funny Ha Ha at Skylight Books.

July 24

The Los Angeles Zoo is having an after hours party. 18-and-olders can attend this event and visit animals and explore habitats.

July 25 through August 2

The Special Olympics World Games is coming to Los Angeles. Events will be held at different venues around Los Angeles.

July 30

The Skirball Cultural Center will be presenting Bassekou Kouyate and Ngoni Ba (an instrument that looks like a banjo).
