Palm Springs

We’ve got some suggestions for a drive-able (or town-car-able) weekend trips near Los Angeles. How does Palm Springs sound?

Are you longing for desert heat and good food. Why not a weekend in Palm Springs? The heat is climbing and hotel swimming pools are beckoning. Cool evenings balance out day time temps perfectly. Here are some suggestions:

1. Palm Springs Aerial Tramway

This tram travels from the bottom of the desert floor to a mountain station. The ride lasts 10 minutes but the photos of wonderful scenery last forever.

2. Backstreet Art District

Palm Springs attracts artists. Visit galleries and the studios of artists to see and maybe purchase some art whether it’s photography, ceramics, sculpture or jewelry.  Www.backstreetartdistrict.com

3. Climb the Teranasaurus Rex

We’ll explain. There is a large 3 story T. rex that you can climb for a great view of the area

4. Indian Canyons

Into hiking? This is the perfect place. Sixty miles of trails wind and zig zag through Palm canyons, Murray and Andreas. Take pics, look at birds, relax—you decide.

5. Palm Springs Art Museum

Right now through May 31 there is an exhibit of “Ai Weiwei’s Circle of Animals/Zodiac Heads: Gold” Kinda random but fantastic we think.

6. Vintage Clothing

Mad Men may be over but the fashion lives on. Check out Déjà vu Vintage Finery at 664 N. Palm Canyon Drive. (760) 699-5365 www.dejavuroom.com
